Applicant profile

The profiles of applicants to the PhD in Bioengineering programme are graduates holding master's degrees in Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or related fields. Applications by students with other educational backgrounds will be studied individually by the Doctoral Programme Academic Committee.

Graduate profile

Upon completing their studies in the PhD in Bioengineering programme, graduates are experts in the following areas:

  • Ability to systematically understand a field of study and master research skills and methods related to that field.
  • Ability to come up with, design or create, implement, and take on a substantial research process or a new creation.
  • Ability to contribute to expanding the boundaries of knowledge through original research.
  • Ability to perform critical analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of new and complex ideas.
  • Ability to communicate both with the academic and scientific communities and with society in general.

Number of spots available

The PhD in Bioengineering programme currently offers spots for six new students per academic year.
