CFA Level I preparation

The Master’s Degree in Wealth and Financial Management is recognized by the University Affiliation Program. The CFA Institute® recognizes that we incorporate at least 70% of the CFA® Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) from its CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst) certification, the most valued global endorsement in the field of finance. It is also worth pointing out to potential students and employers that the master’s degree is in line with this certification, with more than 170,000 CFA® Charterholders (less than 900 in Spain) in more than 150 countries. Entities such as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, BlackRock, UBS, and so on are the largest employers of people with this certification.

The Master’s Degree prepares you for the CFA® Level I certification exam and students earn a diploma accrediting that they have completed this preparation. This course is designed by CFA® Spain, which employs CFA® Certified professors (CFA® Charterholders). This certification is the most important distinguishing recognition in the financial sector.

Finance Laboratory

The Master’s Degree in Wealth and Financial Management has added the Refinitiv Workspace platform (formerly Thomson Reuters Eikon) to its educational offering. Every student is given an annual license that provides access to real-time information about financial markets: financial statements, stock quotes, fixed income securities, foreign exchange markets, derivatives, investment funds, ETFs, commodities, real estate, and more.

The platform also includes DataStream for compiling and analysing macroeconomic and international trade data. In total, it offers access to 40,000 financial and stock markets and institutions in 190 countries. Refinitiv Workspace allows students in the Master’s Degree in Wealth and Financial Management to prepare for the labour market with a tool that features the world’s main financial organizations.

Curriculum

The curriculum of the Master’s Degree in Wealth and Financial Management has been defined considering the needs of the profession and features the appropriate combination of theoretical and practical knowledge. It covers the two main professional specializations in the field of finance: wealth advising and corporate finance, with a clear professional orientation and an international perspective.

The objective is to prepare professionals with a comprehensive, international, and interrelated education who are capable of taking on technical and managerial roles within the main professional areas of finance.

Modules and Subjects

Models and Financial Products (mandatory)
Main theoretical models through their practical application of the different investment and financial products, both fixed income, equities, and derivative instruments or hybrid products.

Legal framework and methodology (mandatory)
Through knowledge of financial markets, macroeconomic variables, and monetary policies, students learn how to take them into account for company investment and financing decisions.

Analysis, Valuation, and Management of Financial Products (elective)
Students work on advanced valuation methods for financial products and different portfolio management and financial planning models.

Corporate Finance (elective)
Students study company valuation and business risk management methods and analyse corporate merger and acquisition transactions as well as Private Equity and Venture Capital activities.

In-company internship

In-company internships are mandatory and paid. The internships may be full-time, morning, and/or afternoon and are conducted in institutions and entities with recognized prestige in the financial sector.

Some of the entities in which our students have carried out internships include: Deutsche Bank, Caixa Bank, Bankinter, Andbank, Morabanc, Newtech Capital, BNP Paribas, Caixa d’Enginyers, and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

Students in the Master’s Degree in Wealth and Financial Management have completed internships in a wide array of departments and roles. From activities and departments in Private Banking and Wealth Advising to performing roles in Risk Departments, Real Estate, Investments, Portfolio Management, Private Equity, and Venture Capital.

Apply for admission

Once you have completed your registration, the system will assign you a user number then you must create a password. You can check the status of your application at any time with this login information.

If you are an IQS student, you must pre-register directly from your SIGMA profile. Enter your username and password and go to official studies/pre-registration.

Documentation to upload

  • Your undergraduate degree, if you have finished your studies. If you studied outside the European Union, your degree must be apostilled and legalized for the enrolment step.
  • Your most up-to-date academic transcripts, with your grade point average on a scale of 0-10.
  • 1 passport-style photograph in colour with a white background in jpg format (176×220 pixels).
  • Photocopy of valid ID card on both sides or passport bio-data page.
  • Document certifying your English level as required in your programme of choice.
  • If you completed undergraduate studies outside the European Union that grant you access to graduate-level studies, you must provide a certificate issued by your home university confirming that the degree you earned enables you to access master’s degree studies in the country where your undergraduate degree was earned. Payment:

  • Payment of €100 by credit or debit card to open and process your application.
  • It is only refunded in the event of non-admission.
  • If you make the payment from outside of Spain, you must do so through Flywire: www.flywire.com/pay/iqsland

The master’s degree coordinator will contact you for an interview. Subsequently, IQS will notify you by email on the decision regarding your admission.

Once admitted, you have a period of two weeks to make your pre-enrolment payment. You must pay a pre-enrolment tuition fee of €1,000. The pre-enrolment payment is non-refundable and does not entail an additional cost as it will be deducted from the total tuition fees once your enrolment is finalized.

If you are a non-EU student, you will receive your visa letter once IQS has received your pre-enrolment payment.

Once the enrolment period has opened, and if you have completed the previous stages, you will receive an email from the IQS Registrar’s Office with the credentials and instructions you need to proceed with your enrolment.

Using your credentials, start your session on the SIGMA academic management application and formalize your enrolment by indicating the payment method.

Scholarships and financial aid

IQS offers scholarships and financial aid to students who wish to study a master’s degree at IQS and who have completed their undergraduate studies at another university. We also provide scholarships for academic excellence, financial need, and international students.

The Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral studies at the IQS School of Management hold this accreditation and international recognition.

The IQS School of Management formally applied for membership in the AUDIT programme on 18 July 2011 under the expansion category. To this end, it adopted the design of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC) of the IQS School of Engineering, which had been submitted to the University System Quality Agency (AQU) for evaluation in the 2009 AUDIT call and positively assessed on 22 April 2010.
