• PhD fellowahip offer - Pre-doctoral position

Pre-doctoral position available at the Grup d’Enginyeria de Materials (Gemat) from IQS-URL.

Description of the Research Topic

One of the research lines at the Laboratory of Biomaterials is focused on the development of polymeric nanoparticles as advanced nucleic acid delivery systems for the prophylaxis and treatment of current unmet medical needs, such as lung cancer. Core projects of the group are centered in the design of smart multitherapeutic formulations able to cross physiological barriers and enable a non-invasive delivery.

The Laboratory is looking for a PhD student to work on a project funded by an internationally recognized company aimed at the development of polymeric nanoparticles able to cross mucosa (i.e. eye and lung mucosa) and selectively deliver nucleic acids to their target cells. Integrated in a multidisciplinary group of more than twenty scientists, the candidate is expected to run this three-year project that involves:

  1. Synthesis and analysis of a library of polymers including targeting moieties and enhanced
  2. Formulation and characterization of polymeric nanoparticles that efficiently encapsulate
  3. Confirmation of the capacity of the nanoparticles to cross mucosa models.
  4. In vitro (and possibly in vivo) studies of the safety and efficacy of the designed polymeric
